More information relating to Bass Sport Fishing:

Sport fishing for bass will get you hooked from the moment you get started and there is so many genuine reasons why this will happen.

Bass are great sport and when they hit a lure - you'll feel it - guaranteed!

Sea Bass are also a much prized fish, so you will find that more people than you realise find it a very interesting and exciting subject to discuss.

If you have never tried fishing before because you think it's a bit boring or you need to be a bit of a loner to do it, sport fishing is completely different.

Firstly, it is fantastic exercise and you will find yourself completely absorbed in what you are doing; whatever stresses or strains are on your mind - you will completely forget them whilst you are sport fishing - guaranteed!

Also, you will find that both your friends and family will soon become more interested in tagging along, as you get so much more out of a coastal work or beach visit.

You are not having to dig or buy fresh bait - once your rod is set up properly - it's simply a case of choosing your lure and doing it.

Changing from lure to lure is really easy to, so again it engages more people.

At Bassmasters, we know for sure that bass sport fishing is going to take off in a very big way in the UK, so now is a great time to get some professional training to get you started on the right footing.

Ultimately, if you are shown how to fish using lures properly from day one, that training will stay with you for a lifetime.

I was a complete novice at fishing, but fishing with lures appealed to me, so I thought I would give it a go. Nathan covered everything through the session, from showing me how to cast properly, how to use the lures and how to catch Bass! Nathan educated me on what to look out for when fishing for bass, from sea conditions to fishing ground - it was a real education in understanding how to fish successfully. He is also a very good and supportive teacher, with nothing being too much trouble. I was very impressed with how attentive he was and he made sure I was safe at all times. Overall the guiding session was awesome and it gave me great confidence to take up lure fishing! Since taking the guiding, I have caught 2 bass (4lb & 1 1/2lb), 2 wrasse (ballan 3 1/2lb and a stunning cuckoo 1 1/2lb) 2 pouting, 1 pollack and a decent size mackerel on lures and I know for sure that I have achieved this because I have been taught by a professional from the start. I cannot recommend this enough - it's fantastic.

If, like me, you go to unfamilar parts of the country you can use the 'water craft' you have learned over the years to find suitable marks, work out tides and hope you get it right. It can be fun and rewarding, however, you have to be very lucky not to end up with a blank and it will take many trips to really get to know an area. I visited Cornwall and chose to get Nathan to guide me and what a difference it made! Nathan met me at 4.00 am and took me to several marks throughout the day I would never have found and what fun we had with both bass and pollock. Nathan took lots of time to explain the marks and why they were good at different tide times, all of which has helped me with my fishing elsewhere. Nothing was too much trouble and I had a truly superb day and will be returning in September to do it all again. If you want to catch bass - get Nathan!! One word of warning if you are getting as clumsy as I am, just get him to help you cross the road - you will have to ask Nathan why!! The only depressing thing is realising how little I knew about bass fishing compared to Nathan but after fishing with him, I have definitely improved!

On a sunny morning in late April Rob met us at a garage on the A38, he enthusiastically checked our gear over and then we followed him on to our destination for the day at Port Wrinkle.Rob took us all over the marks whilst the tide was out, giving us a thorough explanation of how the bass chase the prey fish up and down the gulleys when the tide comes in, showing us where we would be fishing later that morning. We then stopped at a quiet long rock pool to try the different lures out and compare their actions. Those lures that went shallow, those that ran deep, some that had an action on their own, some that required use of the rod tip and or reel to animate the lure. Rob described in detail what were the best colours and types of lures were for sunny/overcast weather and choppy & calm as well as deep & shallow conditions. Tom and I had a thoroughly absorbing day which will inevitably lead to a spate of bass fishing adventures, Rob's enthusiasm during the whole day was catching and the value offered by the guiding service was excellent. We could waste years learning what Rob taught us in a single day. We would both give the guiding service a 9/10, if we had caught a bass each it would have been 10/10!

I had fished before back home in South Africa but never put a line in the water in the U.K. I chose to drive down early in the morning and met Rob at the hotel that had been arranged for me. We met at 0900 and Rob took a quick look at the kit I had brought with me. He decided that i should use my own rod and reel to get used to the set up. The first spot we went to Rob started by taking me throught the safty kit and then we walked down to the water to start learning the different plugs and how to work them. The fact I could already cast with fair accuracy helped me to concentrate on the plugs themselfs, and was rewarded with a follow from a small bass. After a few hours the wind picked up and the swell became too heavy for the plugs to work so we jumped back into the car and moved to a more sheltered spot that Rob knew. We had lunch while walking down to the water and Rob let me chose the plugs I thought were correct for the water and structure while we combed down the shore. We hit it on the head at about 1800. We didn't catch but it was still a five star experiance and well worth every penny. I now have the confidence to go out and look for my own marks and know how to fish them without losing £££ of tackle with a good chance of catching. A big thank you to Rob, Nathan and Iain.
